If you are reading this page, you just missed the 65th Annual Big Band Street Dance in Columbia Historic State Park which happened July 17, 2010. However, it is an annual event so be sure to go in 2011. During the Big Band Street Dance, Columbia State Historic Park transforms into a 1940s town complete with cars from the era and encourages you to come dressed in 1940’s clothing. Featuring a wonderful big band to play all the best music from the 40s, have a great time dancing the night away from 8:00pm to 10:30pm. There are prizes for best costume and best dancer.
Columbia State Historic Park is a gold rush town compiling of 20 businesses that appear just as they would’ve in the 1840s. Over 600,000 people visit this gem every year and it is probably my favorite place to visit in Tuolumne County.
At the website found here http://www.columbiagazette.com/bigband.htm you can check the date for the Big Band Street Dance in 2011 and see videos from previous years.
