Twain Harte Lake is a privately owned lake. Membership is very exclusive and only offered to a certain number of homes. Only when a household has given up their membership, may someone apply to get one. Once you do get a membership, or visit with friends, it is very worth it. There is a sand beach and a big rock with a great view of Tuolumne County. There are ropes outlining where inexperienced swimmers and young kids can be, but if you pass the swim test you can go out past these ropes. There are a few sedentary rafts people lay on and jump off of as well as diving boards and swim lanes for people who want to swim laps. There are also 2 small waterslides and water bike rentals.
Twain Harte Lake also features the Snack Shack. Try delicious burgers and fries and a snow cone…perfect for those hot summer days. They have a patio under some shade trees. Twain Harte Lake also has a few activities throughout the year. Every Fourth of July, the Twain Harte Lake has a BBQ and a Kid’s Flag Parade. Members get two free tickets and may purchase more. Every Tuesday and Thursday night there is bingo. In August there is a Carnival for people of all ages to compete against one another for prizes.
Twain Harte Lake opens Memorial Day weekend and closes Labor Day weekend. Please visit their webpage for 2010 dates and more information. Twain Harte Lake
