Vacation Testimonials
I loved the fact that it was a quick walk to the private lake,
downtown, and to the pee wee golf course. My kids had a blast in Twain
Harte... Great Vacation!

Yosemite National Park Lodging
It’s hard to find the words to describe how
Yosemite National Park changes a
person. The mountain air early in the morning fills your lungs with the gust of
one of its many waterfalls. The history that surrounds you takes you to a
special place – somehow more sacred than a city. If the trees could talk, they’d
tell you of centuries of Man; trolling the massive forest, living, exploring,
making it a part of themselves. The almost ancient ground beneath your feet
brings you closer to a different time, a different way of life.
Long before there was Man at
Yosemite – long before it became
Yosemite National
Park – the area was a jigsaw of streams gliding through rolling hills, all
created by gradual movements of the Earth. Massive glaciers later flowed and
eventually carved away at the canyons and created u-shaped valleys. After some
time, sediment made its way out of the high country and created the current
Yosemite National Park valley floor by filling in Lake Yosemite.
In 1864, Abraham Lincoln took the first step towards preserving Yosemite
National Park by signing the Yosemite Grant and turning the
Yosemite Valley into
a state supervised public reserve. In 1890, John Muir, a great lover of Yosemite
National Park, helped persuade Congress to protect the high country by making it
a national park, which is was, on October 1, 1890. Yosemite National Park is the
Nation’s third oldest national park.
Congress thankfully saw that Yosemite was unique and that its resources needed
to be protected. Yosemite National Park is a wonderland of geological adventures
with the largest exposed granite monolith in the world and the largest
concentration of granite domes on earth.
Camping on the ground is not the only way to stay while visiting Yosemite
National Park
, although you can get
Yosemite Camping Reservations. The Wawona Hotel had been a part of the
Yosemite
Lodging for the longest. The area was an Indian encampment then became home to a
wayside hotel in 1856 built by Galen Clark. It was known as Clark’s Station and
served visitors traveling between Yosemite Valley and Mariposa. In 1875 it was
purchased by the Washburn brothers and was rebuilt to be the Wawona Hotel, as
Yosemite National Park knows it today.
To really live it up at Yosemite National Park, there is The Ahwahnee, which
offers elegance and comfort and surrounds you with history with the Native
American designs that accent each room. This Lodging is perfect for those who
desire more luxurious services. On June 1, 1987, The Ahwahnee was named as a
National Historic Landmark.
If you want to visit Yosemite National Park but don’t want to totally “rough
it,” Curry Village is a great choice. It’s located beneath Glacier Point and is
open from Spring to the Fall, as well as on the weekends and holidays during the
Winter. Lodging consists of canvas covered cabins and central bathroom areas.
